January 5 - January 30, 2026
Clinic Overview
A four-week developmental program for middle school girls in grades 6, 7, & 8 to learn and improve their skills in preparation for the upcoming interscholastic season. This program is designed to maximize exposure to the sport by providing high-quality training and guaranteed playing time without the time commitment, cost, and travel required of more competitive club teams. Athletes will develop basic to intermediate volleyball skills, strategy, and rules of volleyball to help prepare them for future competitive teams.
What to Expect
Athletes, regardless of school affiliation, will participate in a tryout and will be selected to teams coached by Michigan Tech Varsity Volleyball players and staff. Each week will consist of one mid-week team practice and a Friday night scrimmage. Playing time is shared and each athlete will have the opportunity to learn multiple positions. Our final session will be a fun, but competitive, tournament in which teams can showcase their skills and compete for a Development League Championship!

Meet the Coaches

Michigan Tech Vice President for Athletics and Recreation Suzanne Sanregret named Cindy Pindral the eighth Head Coach of the volleyball program on Monday (Dec. 2). Pindral returns to the Huskies after being an Assistant Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and Volunteer Coach with the Huskies for seven seasons from 2016 to 2022.
During her seven years with the Huskies, the team held a 139-62 overall record. Tech went to four straight NCAA Tournaments from 2017-21 and won a pair of regular-season GLIAC championships in the spring of 2021 and then repeated in the fall of 2021. The 2017 Huskies earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time for the program since 2009. The 2019 squad swept Missouri-St. Louis in the first round of the tournament for the first NCAA win since 1995. The 2021 team also advanced to the NCAA Midwest Regional Semifinal after a five-set victory over Wayne State.
Pindral was involved with nearly all phases of the program, including skill development, recruiting, scouting, practice planning, film breakdown, and team travel. She also served as the lead coach for the Huskies' youth programs, including the Little Huskies Volleyball Club, All-Skills Camps, and position-specific clinics.

Mallory Nickelson begins her third season as an Assistant Coach with Michigan Tech Volleyball in 2025. The native of St. Louis, Missouri was named to the position in February 2023 after being a four-year starting libero and setter at Roosevelt University and most recently an assistant coach for two seasons at UW-Stevens Point.
In Nickelson's second season in 2024, the Huskies advanced to the GLIAC semifinal for the eighth consecutive season. Five different Huskies were named to All-GLIAC with Tess Hayes and Meg Raabe honored on the First Team, Paige Wagner and Rachel Zurek on the Second Team, and Kaycee Meiners was Honorable Mention. The Huskies earned AVCA Academic Excellence team honors for the 13th straight season.
