Camp Overview
This camp is open to girls entering grades 9 and up as of Fall 2025. The Michigan Tech Soccer Identification Clinic provides players the opportunity to gain a greater knowledge of Michigan Tech soccer program and what it takes to play at the Division II level. Players will receive college-level training while interacting with the current Michigan Tech coaching staff and players. There will also be Q&A sessions with current players to help provide greater insight into life at Michigan Tech and within the soccer program. It will be a combination of technical, small side, and 11v11 play.
What to Expect
Our camp is intensive and games and scrimmages are highly competitive to keep all players challenged. Come prepared to run drills, face off in small side games, and perfect your technique. Participants need to bring shin guards, a water bottle, and clothing for all weather. Outdoor training sessions will be held on Sherman Field. In case of rain, camp will be moved to the SDC Multipurpose Room. So please bring the proper footwear to play on a gym floor.

Meet the Coaches
Melissa Kuhar is the third soccer head coach in the program's history. Kuhar has served as an assistant coach under head coach Justin Olson, spending the last four seasons at Division II Institution Drury, an affiliate of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. She helped the Panthers to an overall record of 39-18-15 in four seasons, which included a GLVC Championship in 2021 and the program's first NCAA Tournament bid since 2007. That year Olson and Kuhar were honored as NCAA Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
She was also the head girls' soccer coach at Greenwood High School in Springfield, where she guided the Blue Jays to the Missouri state semifinals, a third-place finish in Class 1 and a 16-4 record in her first season at Greenwood.
Prior to her four seasons as the assistant coach for Drury, Kuhar served three years as an assistant coach at Bethany College under Coach Olson where the Swedes went 27-24-4 during the duos three years at Bethany. She also worked as a sports information assistant and an adjunct professor teaching classes in the Exercise Science department.
Kuhar also coached at the high school level with stints at Salina and Saint Joseph High School, where she helped Saint Joseph reach the Indiana 3A State semifinals.
Kuhar played collegiate soccer at St. Joseph's, Ind., a former NCAA Division II GLVC affiliate institution from 2014-16 and graduated with a degree in Sport Management. She also owns a master's degree in Sports Administration from the American Public University System.

Hunter Stoddard is a current Ph.D. student at Michigan Tech studying Chemical Engineering. He is in his third season as graduate assistant coach/goalkeeper coach in 2023-24. He calls Hemlock, Michigan home and earned his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering in the spring of 2020. Stoddard played four seasons of varsity soccer in high school as well as four years of club soccer in the Michigan State Premier Soccer League (MSPSP). He is still a member of MTU's club soccer team and has experience coaching youth soccer and recreational soccer in Hemlock.
