Registration Changes for Summer 2026:
- Registration will be available online only.
- Only one participant may be registered per transaction; a shopping cart option will not be available.
- Siblings will need to be registered separately.
- Registration can only be completed by the participant's parent or legal guardian.
- All required paperwork, including the release waiver and health history, is now built directly into the registration process and must be completed before payment can be submitted and registration completed.

We've upgraded to a new recreation program registration system to better support youth and adult programs!
Important for Parents/Guardians:
To register your child for any summer camp, you'll need to:
1. Create your account *Note: Due to system constraints, only current MTU students, faculty, and staff may use an MTU email. All others must use or create a different email address to create an account.
2. Add your children as your affiliates (with their date of birth).
3. Register your child through their affiliate profile (profile options in top right corner), not your own, for any program with an age requirement.
This ensures accurate participant info and correct age group placement.

Program Overview
This program is open to male and female athletes entering grades 6-12 as of Fall 2026. Nine-week collegiate-level strength and conditioning camp for athletes looking to improve their performance and fitness level to prepare for the upcoming season. The program includes (3) sessions per week in a varsity collegiate setting and SDC access to the Fitness Center (min. age 16), Multipurpose Room and the Pool during open recreation hours for the duration of the program.

Mondays/Wednesdays/Thursdays - 10:00am-11:00am (Middle School Athletes)
Mondays/Wednesdays/Thursdays - 11:00am-12:00pm High School Athletes)

SDC Varsity Weight Room (located on the far side of the SDC Multipurpose Room)
What to Expect
Lead by the MTU Strength & Conditioning staff, athletes will learn and develop proper training techniques in order to improve overall fitness, increase performance potential, and decrease the risk of injury. Athletes will engage in a progressive training program that translates across a wide range of sports with the intent of improving agility, strength, flexibility, and speed. An emphasis will be placed on performance tracking throughout the camp, so athletes will be able to monitor their progress in detail throughout. Participants will also receive free SDC access for the duration of the nine-week program (outside of training time), which includes use of the fitness center (must be 16+ years of age), pool, and multipurpose room. Take advantage of the opportunity to receive elite-level training in a varsity collegiate setting, right here in the Keweenaw!
Phases:
- Week 1: Integration (initial assessment)
- Weeks 2-4: Accumulation
- Weeks 5-8: Intensification
- Week 9: Peak (final assessment)
What to Bring
A water bottle, comfortable athletic clothing (t-shirt, shorts, leggings, etc.) and appropriate athletic footwear (non-marking sole cross trainers and/or weight lifting shoes) are required for camp.
About the Coaches

Riley Schreck has been an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Michigan Tech since 2022-23. He also currently serves as the Interim Head Coach for the men's and women's tennis teams.
In his role, Schreck assists the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach in developing, implementing, and leading sport-specific strength and conditioning programs that facilitate maximum benefits and decrease injury potential for MTU's 14 NCAA Division II sports.
Schreck is originally from the state of Washington. He spent two years as a wrestler at Grays Harbor College and earned his Associate's in Arts. He then attended Eastern Washington University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Schreck continued his education with a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Western Illinois University.
He held two strength and conditioning internships and was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Western Illinois where he was the head strength and conditioning coach for volleyball, track and field, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis, cross country, and softball.
Most recently, Schreck was Assistant Athletic Performance Coach at University of North Carolina-Pembroke where he spearheaded volleyball, sprinters, jumpers, throwers, and distance runners. He also worked with women's basketball and football.
He is a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS).
