Clinic Overview
Learning skills, working as a team, and having fun: that's Michigan Tech's Little Huskies Boys' Basketball Camp! It's about the best introduction to basketball you can imagine—personalized coaching that emphasizes both individual skills and team play, with plenty of time for gently competitive games in the SDC Varsity Gym. And Michigan Tech's campus is a great environment for meeting new people and making friends. This camp is open to boys in grades 2-5.
What to Expect
Daily sessions are 2 hours, and players will leave with fundamental basketball skills like ball-handling, shooting, team play, and defensive play.

Pick-Up/Drop-Off: We will finish camp each day in the varsity gym, so you can pick up campers by the main doors of the SDC.

We're upgrading to a new recreation program registration system to better support youth and adult programs!
Important for Parents/Guardians:
To register your child for any youth program (like swim or youth sports), you'll need to:
1. Create your account *Note: Due to system constraints, only current MTU students, faculty, and staff mau use an MTU email. All others must use or create a different email address to create an account.
2. Add your children as your affiliates (with their date of birth)
3. Register your child through their affiliate profile (profile options in top right corner), not your own, for any program with an age requirement
This ensures accurate participant info and correct age group placement.

Registration and payment can be completed online, or at the SDC Tickt Office. A parent or legal guardian is required to sign waiver or liability an concussion awareness forms for all youth classes.

Parking Information
Visitors may use Lots 22 or 24, located outside the main entrance of the SDC, for parking during camps. There is no overnight parking. Please do not park in the UP Health System and Rehab Services lot (north end of the SDC).

Meet the Coaches

Josh Buettner was named head men's basketball coach on April 16, 2021. Buettner helped the Huskies to the NCAA Midwest Region Championship game in his 1st season as associate head men's basketball coach in 2020-21. The team finished 15-8 overall and 12-6 in the GLIAC North Division. Prior to his promotion to Associate Head Coach, Buettner served 13 seasons as assistant coach. He has recruited four All-Americans and numerous All-GLIAC First Team selections since his appointment in 2008. The Shawano WI native starred for the Huskies from 2001-05. He was a two-time All-American and earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors as both a junior and senior. A 6-9 forward, Buettner finished third on Tech's all-time scoring chart with 2,061 career points. Following his graduation from Tech in 2005, Buettner played professionally in Europe for three years. He played in leagues in Denmark, Switzerland, and Iceland, and was named the Danish Elite League Player of the Year in his second pro campaign. In addition to his coaching duties, Buettner teaches classes in the kinesiology and integrated physiology department and coordinates all of Michigan Tech's boys' basketball camps, clinics, and leagues as well as the Doghouse 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament.

Zach Flener began his first year as assistant men's basketball coach in 2022-23. He assisted the squad to an upset victory over No. 1 seed Wisconsin Parkside in the GLIAC quarterfinals and Tech reached the Championship game before falling the NMU to end the season.
Prior to the Huskies, Flener served as basketball operations associate with the Lakeland Magic of the NBA G-League in 2021-22. In 2020-21, Flener was a player development coordinator at Lipscomb University. One year prior, he interned with the Dallas Mavericks for one season.
