Indoor Rock Wall DetailsThe Michigan Tech SDC Indoor Rock Climbing wall is housed in the SDC Multi-purpose gym and is available for general use as well as special events and private rentals. The wall is approximately 30 feet high. It has 4 sections: a flat wall, a bulge, a roof, and a crack. Each section has a number of routes, ranging from beginner to advanced. Additionally, the bouldering wall stands roughly 10 feet high at a 30 degree incline and features a variety of bouldering routes to work on and have fun with.
Currently the routes are changed two times a year. The wall and bouldering section are completely cleared and new routes are set for the Ridge Roamers Climbing Competitions in the fall and spring. Each climbing competition features 3 beginner, 3 intermediate, and 3 advanced routes and are open to the public. The wall is in line with current climbing wall standards and adheres to the standards set forth by ACCT (Association for Challenge Course Technology)
The Ridge Roamers Climbing Club is a great resource for those looking to gain more advanced skills related to climbing, as well as outdoor rock climbing. The club holds regular climbing hours at the wall M-Th from 7-9pm. Your first visit to the club climbs is free of charge and subsequent visits will require a membership.
